A half sheet is usually one half the size of a one sheet - or around 22x28 inches - and are printed on card stock.
Half sheets were one of the primary means of advertising movies until the 1980s. This is due to the fact that movie theatres started showing more movies.
When they showed fewer movies, they dedicated more space in the theatre to various sized pieces of art for movies. This advertising space became more scarce as they had to advertise and market more movies, causing a decline in the production of half-sheets.
