British Movie Posters

The very first moving pictures on celluloid film were made by William Friese Greene in Hyde Park, London in 1889. Since then, there have been ups and downs in British cinema history.

British Movie Poster Sizes:

  • British Quad / Quad Crown - The most common British poster measurese 30x40 inches (75x102 centimeters). British Quads are printed horizontally (kinda like half sheets in the US, but larger).
  • Mini Quad - British mini quad movie posters measure 12x16 inches (31x41 centimeters). They're basically the same as the US mini sheet.
  • Double Crown / D.C. / DC / UK One Sheet (old term) - British Double Crown movie posters are 20x30 inches (or 51x76 centimeters). Some older collectors as a UK one sheet.
  • British Half Sheet - British half sheet movie posters are 22x28 inches (or 56x76 centimeters). British half sheets are similar to their American cousins, but the former will have a British Board of Film Seal on it.
  • British One Sheet / British 1 Sheet / British 1 sh - British one sheet movie posters are 27x40 inches (or 74x151 centimeters). These are primarily produced for display of British movies in the United States and Canada.
  • British Door Panel - British Door Panels are 20x60 inches (or 50x152 centimeters).
  • British Bus Stop poster / 4 Sheet / 4 sh - British Bus Stop Posters are 40x60 (or 102x152 centimeters). These posters are four times the size of a Double Crown. (Some newer British dealers might refer to this as a '2 sheet').
  • British Three Sheet / British 3 Sheet / British 3 sh - British Three Sheets are 40x81 inches (or 152x202 centimeters).
  • British Six Sheet / British 6 Sheet / British 6 sh - British six sheets are 80x81 inches (or 200x202 centimeters).
  • British Lobby cards - British Lobby Cards are 11x14 inches (or 30x36 centimeters).
  • British Front of House Cards - British Front of House cards are 8x10 inches (or 20x26 cetimeters).
  • British Presskits / British Press Kits - British Presskits give credits and information about the movie along with more marketing and PR material for the movie.
