The Avalon Theatre (5612 Connecticut Avenue NW) is one of the oldest theatres in Washington D.C.
The Theatre seats 599 on two seperate floors. It began life as the Chevy Chase Theatre in February 1923.
Through the years it passed through many hands. The most recent restoration began in October 2002. On April 22, 2003, the Avalon Theatre Project was finished and remains open today, fascinating another generation of movie goers.
