Australia has a rich history in the movie business. The earliest known feature length narrative movie in the world was The Story of the Kelly Gang in 1906, an Australian production.

Australian Movie Poster Sizes

  • 3 sheet / three sheet / 3sh - these measure 41x80
  • 1 Sheet / One Sheet / 1 sh - Australian one sheets measure 27x40. There was a shortage of Australian one sheets from 1940 to the 1970s.
  • Daybills / Day Bills - These are the most common type of Australian movie poster.
    • Pre-1940s - Until the late 1930s, daybills were usually sized 15x40.
    • 1940s to 1980s - The size was reduced (because the war had caused a paper shortage) to 13x30. This period is also known for the Mini Daybill which measures 10x30. Mini Daybills are very rare.
    • 1980s+ - The size was reduced to 13x26 (sometimes smaller.) These Daybills were printed on glossy paper
